Reducing our footprint

Our greenhouse gas emission targets and roadmap

One of the most urgent challenges facing our society today is climate change. Reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions throughout the food value chain is crucial.

Our GHG roadmap outlines the steps we are taking to ultimately reach a net-zero future.

In 2023, Evonik set science-based targets that have been approved by the Science Based Targets Initiative (SBTi) as consistent with a well-below 2°C (WB2C) pathway. We are committed to reducing emissions in line with the latest climate science, and consequently, we have a long-term ambition to expand our targets to align with a 1.5°C warming pathway, and reach net-zero emissions by 2050.

See the full details of our current targets on the SBTi website.

Our global asset strategy is designed to ensure that the three backward-integrated methionine plants in the Americas, Europe and Asia offer cost and carbon optimized MetAMINO® (DL-methionine) to customers worldwide, and that the carbon footprint of our amino acids and functional feed additives remains as low as possible.
