Feed Quality Services

Producing animal feeds efficiently

Tailored software tools and analytical & handling services allow you to select, precisely formulate and produce the optimal diet dependent on species and age phase.

Animal nutrition is key when it is about livestock health, livestock productivity, the ecological footprint and the profitability of the animal protein industry. It takes in-depth expertise to compose feeds that meet the animals’ specific needs – as efficiently and sustainably as possible. With our low protein concepts, we provide the nutritional basis to do so.

Another challenge is to produce these feeds in consistent quality. To do this, the nutrient profiles of the respective raw materials must be known. Only then can raw materials and feed additives be precisely dosed. We offer the full range of nutritional concepts, raw material and feed analyses, and handling solutions to help you achieve this goal.

Nutritional concepts for different livestock species

Evonik’s know-how of nutritional concepts and raw material expertise help maximizing feed and livestock production profits whilst ensuring the efficient use of scarce natural resources and sustainable animal farming. Supporting our customers in this endeavour we regularly publish and update a leading feed raw material database as well as a nutrient recommendations for different farm animal species. These are the results of extensive analyses and research carried out around the world and are summarized in the AMINO® software solutions.

Understanding the true value of a raw material is essential. Over the last 50 years many systems have been developed to explain the comparative value of protein and amino acids to different species. For many years we have actively conducted research to best explain the nutritional value of different raw materials. This has lead to the development of the Standardized Ileal Digestibility (SID) system for evaluation of amino acid digestibility. We regularly publish on SID research in poultry and pigs and update the AMINODat® raw material database for our customers.

While the global human population and demand for feed and animal protein is growing the land area available for the production of feed raw materials is limited. Amino acids play an essential role in maximizing the efficient use of these increasingly limited resources. We gained a deep understanding on both the amino acids content of feed raw materials, as well as the nutritional needs of different animal species during their growth phases. We combine this knowledge in publications and tools for our customers, allowing them to formulate diets that optimally meet the animal's needs and increase the efficiency with which animals can use nutrients. Nutritionally balanced, low protein diets support sustainable animal farming by effectively reducing excretion of excess nutrients. Typically a one percent reduction in the level of protein in the diet can lead to a ten percent reduction in the excretion of protein. The feed industry uses various systems to measure and define the quantity of energy in feed raw materials and the requirements of animals. The Digestible Energy (DE), Metabolizable Energy (ME) and Net Energy (NE) are the major systems commonly used in the feed industry. DE accounts for energy lost with feces and ME accounts for energy lost with feces and urine but don't consider metabolic heat which is the biggest single energy loss (25 percent). Around the world, the NE system has become standard for pigs, while in poultry the ME system is most commonly used. Find out how to improve the animal energy metabolism.

Through our research we create data that allows to make the most accurate and efficient use of feed ingredients and thus directly contribute to the financial success of our customers.

AMINOCARP®, AMINOSALMONID®, AMINOSHRIMP®, AMINOTILAPIA®

AMINOAqua software tools provide quick and easy amino acid recommendations for growing aquatic animals by simulating production scenarios, which are based on various features to optimize your feed mix for cost-effective production.

WHY PRECISE ANALYSIS OF ANIMAL FEED RAW MATERIALS MATTERS

Precise analysis of raw materials is essential for high feed quality. Quickly calculate nutrients and accurately estimate energy content in feed raw materials. One data source, different needs met!

Different raw material sources, varying availability, price volatility – producing consistent feed that meets animal needs and hard business targets at the same time is an ongoing challenge. Feed formulators, purchasing departments and quality control each have individual tasks, and coordination is not always easy. But they all have one thing in common: they need accurate and readily available analytical results to achieve their goals. Evonik’s analytical services give you all the answers – quickly, reliably and cost-effectively.

AMINOLab®

AMINOLab® helps purchasers make the right decisions based on precise raw material evaluation. Supporting accurate least cost feed formulation and quality control in feed and livestock production are main advantages for nutritionists, quality control and livestock production managers using AMINOLab® results. The amino acid variability in key ingredients can be reduced and thus amino acid specs in complete feeds need lower safety margins.

AMINONIR®

Determine the nutritional quality of your feeds and raw materials – fast, reliably, and at the best quality. The AMINONIR® services offer reliable nutritional analysis in a minimal time – even with unground raw materials. Easy to perform, fast to implement, invaluable for business performance.  Find out more about AMINONIR®

Handling solutions for animal feed ingredients

Tiny proportions have huge effects. Whether medical additives, vitamins, enzymes, amino acids or other supplements, micro-ingredients can make all the difference in your feed. No wonder micro-ingredient dosing and handling are such critical factors in profitable feed production. The globally leading animal nutrition specialists at Evonik have developed handling solutions and services to bring your production up to the next level of efficiency. Based on your requirements for product dosing and handling – whether tiny proportions or full bulk deliveries – you can count on our local feed technology experts for the support you need to optimize your processes.

Adding a high number of different micro-ingredients directly to your feed composition allows fine-tuning of least-cost formulations that optimize animal performance according to the needs of the individual species and age groups. No wonder the number of micro-ingredients continues to increase in step with scientific advances in animal nutrition. But manual handling of bagged micro-ingredients is labor-intensive. Dosing may become a bottleneck and significant cost-driver for your process. Evonik Animal Nutrition has the answer, with a dosing and handling portfolio that includes solutions and services for full bulk, big bag and – new – small bag deliveries to improve feed mill productivity and feed quality.

AMINOBatch®

In order to check whether the feed mixer is operating properly, supplemented amino acids are analyzed in ten compound feed samples out of one batch of feed. Owing to the high analytical accuracy of amino acids, AMINOBatch® allows for a realistic evaluation of mixing quality. The AMINOBatch® test helps to produce homogeneous compound feed, supporting uniform and consistent animal performance.

AMINOBatch® WPT

AMINOBatch® Working Precision Test is a unique tool to get comprehensive data for the working precision of the overall feed production process dosing and mixing lines for all amino acids in the process in just one single test. The working precision test provides results for the application of dry and liquid additives in the same mixing line under comparative conditions. The scope of the working precision test is customizable and will be adjusted to your requirements.
